Newsletter 2011. 2

G'day All. We have had one Safari and one Rally since the last Newsletter, the Safari to Broken Hill / South Australia and The Celtic Festival Rally at Glen Innes. With seven vans going to S.A. and fifteen going to Glen Innes, I would consider both events a great success. A big Thank You to Don and Rhonda Sykes for their organization of the Glen Innes trip, especially considering the number of times the numbers changed and bookings changed over the preceding twelve months. We have several trips coming up where we have had to book well in advance in order to get the sites. I am sending an email with details attached regarding these together with the updated 'what's on' shortly.
Thanks to all those members who contributed to the success of these two trips especially Keith Clarke for helping keep people warm with your fire at Glen Innes.

Keep those wheels turning.

Cheers. John.

Glen Innes Rally Report

Fifteen Vans travelled to Glen Innes, most staying for 5 t0 7 days to attend the Celtic Festival in and around the City Centre and the Standing Stones overlooking the Town. This was the ' year of the Irish' and was a colourful event including Scottish and Irish Bagpipe Bands, Irish Dancing and numerous demonstrations such as caber tossing, sheep dog trials, concerts, bush poets and market stalls ( which the girls enjoyed ). The shops in town weren't missed either with a few proud purchases made, to cater for the cooler weather.
The weather was cool and generally fine, with only a few light sprinkles on one day. Keith and Annette Clarke's van became 'happy hour central' with the extension of two shelters and a much welcome and appreciated fire.
All agreed it was a happy Rally and thanks to all those that contributed to its success.

Cheers. Don and Rhonda.

Broken Hill / S.A. Safari

Our most adventurous Safari to date. In all, seven vans made the trip. A couple of vans left the Safari to do 'their own thing ' and rejoined later while another couple left later in the Safari to return home via their own route. Ros and I had to leave after one night in Adelaide to go to Canberra as my father was gravely ill. Unfortunately he passed away a day before we got there.
While feed back for the trip was mainly positive it was probably a bit ambitious to cover so much ground in just four weeks. The weather wasn't always kind to us but over all it was not too bad.
Happy hours were always well attended and we were keen to hear what individuals did each day. Overall I would say that the trip was a success and a good time was had by all.

Cheers. John and Ros.
