MNCCC Rally to Fishing Haven Palmers Island Yamba
13th to 16th May 2016
There were seven vans who attended the rally this year. The weather was set fair, almost summery throughout.
We had the opportunity to welcome new members Graham and Sylvie Maclean, and Alan and Sharon Ashworth. Being a small gathering, we had a good opportunity to get to know each other.
Some members arrived early on the Thursday and we had a warm up Happy Hour on Thursday after everyone had set up. The fishing was pretty patchy but Jeff N applied his magic and caught some nice Bream. Some other people staying at the park caught a sizable Jewfish which sadly they did not offer to share with 12 hungry members of MNCCC.
The local flock of Sulphur-crested cockatoos kept up a display of flying and shrieking for our entertainment.
The rally followed the now classical format of Happy Hour with a community BBQ on Saturday and with pancakes for Sunday breakfast. Those people who bought their dogs ensured that they were well behaved during Happy Hour.
Saturday night was a great success with Annette supplying a veggie dish and others supplying a range of salads. Noelineprovided sweets and a delicious cream topping.
Raf discovered another prawn farm which specialises in farmed tiger prawns. Sadly Saturday was their last trading day of the season. The prawns were fresh cooked and $20 per Kg for large juicy specimens.
Three vans left on Monday with the rest of us leaving on Tuesday.
