Rally Report Moonee Beach12th to 16th August 2016
Ten vans, eighteen people attended this rally. We were blessed with super Spring weather and the caravan park was at its best, with splendid views to the ocean over Moonee Creek.
Although some of us arrived a day or so earlier, the rally officially started with Happy Hour in the camp kitchen. So we were strategically placed when Kelly and her team laid on a sausage sizzle ay 6pm. The sausages and accompanying salads were delicious and hit the spot after all our hard work during Happy Hour.
Members did their own thing on Saturday. Some went into Coffs and visited the Bunker Cartoon Gallery, while others went fishing. Some went to Green Bluff lookout and watched the whales playing offshore. We convened Happy Hour and then proceeded to consume BBQ meats with some excellent homemade salads and a potato bake. This was followed by homemade desserts. Certainly no-one starved that night.
Intrepid Ivan went out around midnight and struggled back in that dark, fighting off kangaroos with a good size jewfish. Jeff also managed a number of worthy bream.
On the Sunday, we all went to the Moonee Tavern for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day and the dogs came with us. We stuffed ourselves on ample servings of sumptuous food, while the dogs entertained lots of little kids. Happy Hour that evening was a somewhat subdued affair after all the food and sunshine.
Most of us packed up and went home on Monday, although two vans stayed for an extra night.
