Newsletter 2012. 6

G'day all. We have had two Rallies since the last report, a 'Free Camp' at Ellenborough and a Rally at Woolgoolga. Both were well attended and an enjoyable time was had by all. But, what a mixed bag of  weather. 40 degrees at Ellenborough and very heavy rain at Woolgoolga on Saturday. However on both occasions the weather improved and we all survived. Thanks to Don and Liz for running the Woolgoolga rally, a great success. A big thanks also to those that helped me at Ellenborough.

I think that we have had a pretty successful year with good numbers turning up to the Rallies and BBQ's.However we have had to cancel a couple of Safaries and we will need to rethink these in the future. If you have any ideas for alternatives to Safaries please bring them with you to the AGM at Brigadoon.

We have had several members drop out of the Club this year for a variety of reasons and our membership has shrunk a littl but we do have a couple of prospective new members. If you have any friends that may be interested in joining the Club please bring them along in the new year. The January BBQ is usually a good starting point.

As you know our Annual General Meeting will be held on the Sunday of the Christmas Rally. All positions on the Committee will need to be filled. The Club cannot function without a Committee and a number of the current Committee will not be standing for re-election, including myself.

I have been a member of the Club for six years and on the Committee for five years, the last three as President. Colleen Crowley has been Secretary for five of the last six years and will also be standing down.

Ros and I are looking forward to doing some longer trips next year that we have been putting off for some time, and I feel that being away so much I could not give the proper time to the position of President.

The Committee has approached many members and have several people who would be agreeable to fill positions on the Committee next year. However we are finding it hard to find members to step up as President and Vice President. I would urge members, particularly members who have been around for a while and not served on the Committee before, to give some thought to stepping up and have a say in running your Club.

See you all at Brigadoon for the Christmas Party and DON'T forget your $10 Xmas Present.

Keep those wheels turning.

Cheers.    John.

Woolgoolga Lakeside Rally November 2012

Despite the fairly ordinary weather everybody seemed to have a pretty good Rally. The lakeside caravan park is undergoing a bit of a change with the new amenity block being opened the day we arrived. The facilities are very good, plenty of room in both the shower and toilet areas. The old block is being demolished to make room for new powered van sites. Looking forward to going back to Woolgoolga in the future. The weather was that crook on Saturday night we had to cancel happy hour and our usual dinner get together but we got over it and adjourned to our vans and toasted the bad weather again and again. Sunday's weather was a lot better, some decided to BBQ Saturday nights dinner for lunch while some went to the Pub and we all enjoyed ourselves. Eight vans attended the Rally and we are all now looking forward to the Christmas Rally. As you can see from the pictures below some members stopped for a night or two on the way up and on the return at Gummer Reserve just out of Macksville. All members that stayed there recommend it as a great ' free camp'.

See you all at Brigadoon and hope that the weather is a bit more friendly.

Don Lewis.

Rally Leader.
