Rally Report – Moonee Beach 4th to 7th September 2015
Originally we had eight vans booked in for this rally. The majority of the club travelled to Birdsville for the races and this event coincided with Moonee Beach. Unfortunately Allison and Kevin were delayed in Sydney, and Bob Jolly has a problem with his knee, so Bob and Maureen cancelled also. The remaining six vans had a good and friendly rally.
Friday evening Happy Hour was held in the new Camp Kitchen with a marvellous view of the Moonee Creek estuary and the ocean and islands beyond. On Saturday we did our own thing with some going fishing (Ivan caught one!) or walking on the sands of the estuary or up on the Look at me Now headland.
We had another Happy Hour Saturday evening and then took the courtesy bus to the Moonee Tavern for a sit down meal. The portions were very generous and a good time was had by all. Afterwards some of us chatted over a drink or two.We had pancakes in the Camp Kitchen on Sunday morning.Thank you Carmel and John for helping cook these. The weather closed in and was rainy and dull for the remainder of the day. Some went on a drive and others just relaxed in their vans. Sadly Alan and Anne’s Milly had an accident on Sunday morning when she slipped off the entrance step and pulled a ligament. She was very sore.
During Happy Hour we saw a pod of whales frolicking about 1Km from shore. An extra bonus to add to a lovely weekend.
Monday was departure day for everyone except Carmel and Dave.Next Rally is Scott’s head from 28th October to 4th November. The Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day and the Bowling Club will turn on an event. Please remember to submit your suggestions for Rallies to Carmel before the rally so that the committee can review all input ready for the AGM at end of November.
